Events Schedule & Details:

Build-A-Pond Classes are scheduled approximately 3-6 weeks in advance.  To submit your name for the next class to be held at Living Waters Garden Center call (941) 484-8071 or email us at shipshapelandscape@yahoo.com.  The subject line MUST read:  Build-A-Pond Class.

Build-A-Pond Class Details:  The pond is built in one day, from 9am to 3pm.  Price includes lunch and beverages throughout the day.  Price per person is $20, or $30 per couple.  Build-A-Pond Class is the ONLY day of the year when our pond kits go on sale.  The reduction is significant, as are our other promotions held solely on that day.  Door prizes and drawings are also and exciting part of the experience.  Students are asked to dress expecting to get dirty, and suggest wearing a hat, sunglasses  and sunblock for protection.

Water Gardening 101 instructional classes are scheduled primarily by request.  They are hosted at our premises as well as at various locations preferred by the hosting group.  Classes may be scheduled out of doors at public or private parks and gardens, or indoors at places such as: libraries, churches, home owner association community rooms, and private residences.

Water Gardening 101 Details:  This class answers questions, such as: What is a water garden?, What is Aquascaping?, How do ponds create an ecosystem?, Why should I build my feature to be low maintenance?,  Is there a right way and a wrong way?, How can I make a feature that will meet my expectations?.

All types of water gardens may be discussed, from containers, fountains, to pond-less features, bog areas, to koi and lily ponds.  The instructor will tailor the class to your audience, ranging from entertaining and inspiring to technical and scientific information.

Attendees range from garden clubs, school groups, home owner associations, company sponsored events, green industry seminars, and individuals who have signed up at Living Waters Garden Center.  If you attend a Build-A-Pond class, you will learn much of what you would learn at a WG101 class, though some classes include the slide show presentation, which is not shown at the B-A-P class.

We host these classes to promote water gardening education and to introduce folks to our store.  We care about you, and want you to enjoy your pond.  It is a very sad tale to hear of time and money spent by wonderful people who have been led down a road of misinformation and convinced to try rigging up a makeshift filter or talked into using inferior products that only lead to headache (and heartache).  We like to see people do it right the first time.  Their joy brings us great satisfaction.  But when another low-hanging head comes to us for help after they've invested so much of themselves, it truly urges our company to want to get out there and spread the knowledge we've come by from the #1 manufacturer from the official Water Gardening Capital Of The World based in St. Charles, Illinois, as well as professional seminars, associations, colleagues, and years of first hand experience.

Why should you host a WG-101 Event?  Two reasons we can think of:  The first, you know of a group of like minded people who will benefit from this education.  Secondly, you would enjoy a $25.00 gift certificate, good toward any product in our store.  We ask that you have a minimum of 20 guests.  We will work with you to set arrangements with scheduling a facility, and are available during the day, nights, and weekends for classes that will meet your needs.

Home Schooled students and teaching parents are encouraged to incorporate our facility into their unit study,   There are many ways to get involved and we are open to your co-op and family's needs, ideas, and goals.  Please contact us if you have a project we can participate in together!

Trade Shows & Expos:  Chamber Of Commerce and Home Shows have proven to be both fun & profitable, but we've decided to ease away from them at this time because we are so excited about our other endevours, which we heartily spend our time and energy persuing.  There may be a spot on our calendar for a show in the future, so keep posted.

Offsite Slide Show Presentations:  This educational presentation may be scheduled by specialty groups interested in learning about water gardening and the mechanics of the professional system.  However, the slide presentations are best when incorportated with the Water Gardening 101 class.

Parade Of Ponds Tour:  Our 2006 water garden tour was held on the weekend of April 8 - 9, 2006 spanning two Florida counties, from south Sarasota & northern Bradenton.  We raised funds for The Sea Turtle Program at Mote Marine Aquarium in Sarasota, which helped to purchase GPS tracking devices for this precious creature.  Tickets were $10 per person, and children under 12 were free.  One hundred percent of the ticket price was donated to Mote Marine.  Living Waters Garden Center & Ship Shape Landscape donated all printing, advertising and marketing costs of the Parade Of Ponds.

The next tour is being scheduled at this time.  If you would like to be included in this event, please contact us.  All contact information may be found on our "About Us" page.

Parade Of Pond Details:  What is a parade of ponds?  Much like a holiday tour-of-homes, this event welcomes participants to pondowner's homes (yards) where many different types of water gardens can be viewed.  Many are DIY projects, proudly shown by the owners themselves, eager to share their love of water gardening with you.    Others were installed professionally by various contractors.  There are a surprising number of features, commonly known as Entry Ponds, located in the front yard, but the majority will be found in the backyard, situated by the lanai and inside of pool cages.

These tours are self-guided and come complete with addresses & directions as well as descriptions of each feature, allowing you to pick and choose which ones intrigue you the most.

Once-A-Year Billing For Lawn Maintenance Organizations: This system was developed by Elizabeth Savage, Co-Owner of Ship Shape Landscape of Venice, Florida.  After years of the same old monthly routine that kept her from the life she wanted to lead, a lightbulb finally went off one night that has consequently allowed her to be released from the demands of her husband's business and gave her the relief and hope she dreamed of.  This information IS FREE, and has been shared with others over the past years, with the one stipulation that Ship Shape Landscape be acknowledged for the system as applied to lawn maintenance organizations (lmo's).  To date, we are pleased that others are experiencing the same relief and freedom and are hearing about the system at green industry seminars, though few have accredited this system to it's rightful creators.  Below is a brief description of the system.  If you would like more details, please contact us.

Once-A-Year Billing Details:

The Concept: To bill each customer just once per year.
